The Power of Networking

This week we had the pleasure of speaking to local businesses and members of the brilliant Belfast Chamber about all things Horrible Brands™.

We covered a lot: our first year of growth as a Limited Company, how we’ve landed international clients, and why Brand Strategy is the cornerstone of any business that wants to scale with purpose.

One of the key messages we shared was simple but powerful: talk to your customers.

It’s easy to obsess over logos, straplines or campaigns, but real brand strength comes from understanding how people experience your business at every touchpoint. The more you listen, the clearer your strategy becomes, and the more your brand resonates with the people who matter most.

Opportunities Come From Action

Here’s the kicker: this speaking opportunity came from a marketing email. The Chamber sent out a note asking if members wanted a spot, and we jumped on it. Sometimes success isn’t about waiting for the perfect stage - it’s about spotting an opportunity and saying “yes.”

The result? Great conversations, new enquiries and fresh connections with businesses who hadn’t had us on their radar yet.

Connection and Collaboration

We believe good business is built on connection and collaboration, and we try live that mantra daily. Belfast Chamber are no different. Their vision for the city is bold, relentless and rooted in strong brand values that you can genuinely feel.

Huge thanks to Lisa Comerton, Clare Guinness CDir, Natasha Thompson and Gavin Annon for organising such a brilliant opportunity, and to Nial Borthistle and the team at Glandore for hosting us in their beautiful Arthur Place co-working space.

Looking Ahead

For us speaking at events like this is all about sharing lessons, listening to others, and building a stronger community of businesses in Belfast and beyond.

We left energised, inspired and excited for what’s next. Because when you strip it back, building brands isn’t about logos or websites. It’s about people, experiences and the connections that keep everything moving forward.

Thanks again to Belfast Chamber for the platform. Here’s to more collaboration, more conversations and more Horrible growth.
