Joining Forces on Groundbreaking Net Zero App

We’re excited to announce our latest project, teaming up with Aethergy to develop the user experience (UX) for Klimeo, their groundbreaking Net Zero software platform.
Backed by Innovate UK funding, Klimeo is designed to help businesses quantify, track and reduce their climate impact. For us at Horrible Brands™, it’s a dream brief: applying bold, human-centred UX thinking to a project that’s shaping the future of sustainability.
What Klimeo Does
Klimeo isn’t just another dashboard. It’s a platform that takes the complexity of climate data and translates it into clear, actionable insights. Through automation and AI-augmented analysis, companies will be able to:
- Measure their environmental footprint with accuracy
- Identify high-impact carbon reduction initiatives
- Align sustainability goals with commercial outcomes
In other words: fewer spreadsheets, more impact.
Aethergy’s technical expertise is second-to-none. But to set Klimeo apart, the UX has to be seamless, intuitive and people-focused. That’s where we come in. Our Horrible Brands team is shaping Klimeo’s UX so decision-makers see beyond the data. We want people to be able to understand their Net Zero journey at a deeper level, to be able to act on it and feel confident in their next steps.
Collaboration with Ulster University
The project also brings in heavyweight academic expertise from Professor Liming Luke Chen, Research Director and Professor of Data Analytics at the School of Computing, Ulster University. Together with Aethergy and Horrible Brands, this three-way partnership is tackling the challenge of making sustainability data not only accurate, but usable.
More than R&D
Dr. Gerard Collins, Technical Director at Aethergy, summed it up best:
“This project will set Klimeo apart with a User Experience focussed on enabling companies to drive impactful change to the products and operations to reduce their environmental impact. It also puts Northern Ireland on the Sustainability Innovation map.”
For us, it’s more than an R&D brief. It’s about designing digital tools that make climate action not just possible, but practical. And it’s about putting Northern Ireland on the map as a hub for sustainability innovation.
Looking Ahead
The project runs for six months, with companies across NI and the UK invited to take part in user testing and sustainability analysis. For Horrible Brands, this partnership is a perfect example of what happens when bold design meets meaningful purpose.
Klimeo is here to prove that with the right tools, net zero doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be clear, actionable and achievable. And we’re proud to be shaping that future.
